ABOUT ME |
Benromach’s story began in 1898, when it was built in the small Scottish town of Forres, but its modern tale didn’t begin until 1993 when it was acquired by the family behind legendary independent bottler, Gordon & MacPhail.
The family spent five years carefully restoring this historic distillery, deciding also to recreate a style of Speyside single malt that was long forgotten. Benromach was to produce peated whisky, reflecting the smoky style once prevalent across Speyside when distilleries would malt their own barley by burning peat.
Benromach 15 Year Old is a firm favourite and multi-award winner, undoubtedly a Scotch you’ll return to time and again. The distillery’s signature lightly peated whisky has been matured in a mixture of first-fill bourbon and sherry casks, giving notes of cooked forest fruits, dark chocolate, baked apples and a subtle wisp of smoke.
