ABOUT ME |
Are you sitting comfortably? Then let Fable begin telling their spooky story of the Ghost Piper of Clanyard Bay through a carefully curated series of independent bottlings.
The story begins with a remote settlement in the Scottish Lowlands, plagued by the eerie screams of underground fairies until a brave ghostly piper ventures into their cave to take them head on.
Each of the story’s 11 chapters is told by a collection of single cask bottlings from a single distillery, from Caol Ila to Glen Spey, each beautifully illustrated by visual artist Hugo Cuellar.
Chapter Two, titled ‘Folk’ after the hardy inhabitants of the remote village, explores the fragrant, delicate whisky of Linkwood distillery in Elgin, Moray, through 14 single cask releases.
Built in 1821, Linkwood is highly regarded for its green, grassy character and is much sought after by blenders. Owned by Diageo, Linkwood is a key component of Johnnie Walker’s range of blended Scotch whiskies, but also makes an appearance as a 12-year-old single malt in the company’s Flora and Fauna range.
Independent bottlings of Linkwood are pretty common, yet few offer an insight into the Speyside distillery quite like Fable’s Folk collection.
This Linkwood 7 Year Old has been matured in a single refill hogshead. With little cask impact, the distillery’s fragrant character shines through with aromas of barley sugar and orchard fruits, while herbal notes of mint, green tea and sweet lemon cake dance across the palate.
