ABOUT ME |
The Kintyre peninsula on Scotland’s west coast is home to Campbeltown, Scotch whisky’s smallest region. In the mid-1800s this small fishing town was known as the centre of Scotland’s whisky production, with over 29 distilleries operating. Today just three have survived.
Glen Scotia is one of those distilleries whose imposing grey stone walls have weathered the storms of Campbeltown’s boom and bust periods. While much has changed for this distillery over the decades its operation remains traditional, its stills continuing to produce an oily, maritime and sometimes peated spirit that’s reflective of its 19th century roots.
The unpeated Glen Scotia Double Cask is the ultimate introduction to this historic Campbeltown distillery. Matured in first-fill bourbon barrels before being finished for nine months in PX sherry casks, this sweet, fruity and mouth-coatingly delicious whisky balances notes of vanilla fudge, juicy apples and peaches, and salted caramel.
