ABOUT ME |
Oxford’s first whisky distillery has been open just five years but is already generating a buzz for its considered approach to sustainability, use of heritage grains and innovative whiskies.
While Oxford Artisan Distillery produces a range of fantastic spirits (make sure you try their silky, flavoursome vodka), its their rye whisky that’s the star of the show.
Made using genetically diverse populations of heritage grains grown sustainably within the UK, Oxford’s English rye whisky is setting the standard for this emerging style.
Distillation occurs on two Steampunk-style copper stills named Nautilus and Nemo, which are fashioned after old Victorian diving helmets, together with two iconic 40-plate distillation columns.
Since 2021 the distillery has released nine rye whisky expressions, each matured in a different combination of casks.
Easy Ryder is the 7th batch, and has been matured in nine different casks including American oak and Moscatel Roxo Setúbal, for a layered and textural experience filled with notes of biscotti, roasted hazelnut, white chocolate, baked apples and spice.
