ABOUT ME |
Sailor’s Home is a contemporary collection of Irish whiskeys inspired by the seafarer’s spirit of exploration.
Launched in late 2020, the brand takes its name from Limerick’s historic Sailor’s Home, a shelter built in 1856 to house the hundreds of international sailors travelling through the port on the River Shannon.
Although the building has since become a landmark in the city, the home was never used for its original purpose. Despite its noble intentions it was feared the house would become a sectarian hotbed where Catholic sailors would be influenced to abandon their faith. Over the years Sailor’s Home has been used as a poll house, army barracks and art gallery, but is now sadly disused and derelict.
Leaning into Limerick’s history as one Ireland’s largest commercial shipping ports, Sailor’s Home explores Irish whiskey’s traditional character through the lens of numerous casks shipped all over the world, including American oak, ex-sherry and rum casks.

While Sailor’s Home doesn’t have its own distillery, industry legend and master blender Jack Ó'Sé sources, matures and expertly blends whiskeys from across Ireland to create a unique range that’s full of flavour.
The Journey is Sailor’s Home’s flagship blend, a moreish, everyday whiskey aged in virgin American oak, ex-bourbon barrels and Jamaican rum casks for an experience rich in sticky toffee, ripe banana and spice.
The Journey is delicious on its own or poured over ice, but excels in traditionally rum-based cocktails such as a Jungle Bird or Dark ’n’ Stormy. Try it in an Espresso Martini for an indulgently rich, banoffee-cocoa experience.
The Sailor’s Home series also includes The Haven, a fruit-forward triple-distilled single pot still whiskey matured in American oak and ex-oloroso sherry casks; The Horizon 10 Year Old, a blend of whiskeys finished in Barbados rum casks; and Caravelle, a 10-year-old blend finished in Martinique rhum agricole casks.
